Lagos set to produce first Olympiad in ICT

In a bid to discover Nigeria’s best young computer scientist, develop healthy competitive skills as well as improve youth’s self esteem together with creating pride in academic achievement, an ICT tagged National ICT Olympiad has been designed for students in junior and senior secondary schools in  Nigeria.

The Olympiad is an annual event that has been included in the education calendar. The first edition of the National ICT Olympiad has been restricted to Lagos state.

This edition will involve the students of Lagos state secondary schools as the most cosmopolitan, populous and pace setter in innovation is the most ideal for this edition.

The registration, portal, process and form were made simple and easy to use so as to allow for easy access and usage by the students. In a statement made available to NAIJ.com, the organisers noted that at the close of  registration, there was a registered number of 5,186 students across 1,765 schools in Lagos state.

The best 10 students from the boot camp examination proceeded to the state finals where they will showcase their skills in several areas of ICT; there will be an Olympiad champion and two runner ups.

The audience at the finals will be a mixture of students from participating schools, parents of the finalists, officials of the Lagos state government and invited guests across the ICT sector. The state finals will hold at the Imperial Hall, Alausa Lagos on April 21, by 10am. Check out photos from the event below:
