The sixth edition of the Gotv Boxing night comes alive at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Lagos

– The Boxing event features six professional bouts

– Olaide Fijabi emerges as the star of the event

Olaide Fijabi emerged the star of the sixth edition of the GOtv Boxing Night on Friday, March 25 held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Lagos.

Fijabi, who defeated Ekekpo in an explosive West African Light Welterweight challenge contest, was voted the boxer of the night by journalists.

The Boxing event featured six professional bouts, including a West African middleweight title bout between Adjei Sowah (Ghana) and Rasheed “Afonja Warrior” Abolaji (Nigeria).

The first bout of the night saw Prince Nwoye come up against Michael Rolland in the National Lightweight Challenge.

After five rounds, a fierce punch to the face of Rolland guaranteed a technical knockout victory for
Nwoye.

In subsequent bouts, Samuel Elegbede knocked out his opponent Saidi Lawal in the second round to win the National Super Weight Challenge, while Matthew Obinna
defeated Yusuf Moshood by disqualification to win theNational Super Middleweight Challenge.

Matthew Obinna defeated Yusuf Moshood by disqualification to win the National Super Middleweight Challenge.

The high point of the night came in the fourth bout as Hogan Jimoh and fans’ favourite Otto Joseph battled in the National Lightweight Challenge.

Otto Joseph who was the boxer of the night in the fourth edition, proved he wasn’t in the level of his opponent Hogan Jimoh, as he knocked him out after one minute and 32 seconds in the first round.

The next fight between Nigerian boxer Olaide Fijabi and Republic of Benin, Djamiou Ekekpo in the West African
Light Welterweight challenge, was a keenly contested bout.

However, Fijabi produced a nice display to defeat his opponent from Republic of Benin. After six rounds, Fijabi landed a fierce punch to Ekekpo’s face and knocked him
out.

In the last fight of the game Abolaji “Afonja Warrior” Rasheed defeated Adjei Sowah from Ghana after three rounds to pick the West African Middleweight belt.
