A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has stopped the Senate from going ahead with the probe of former Chairman of the Economic and Financial crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde, over an alleged N1trillion scam.
Justice Gabriel Kolawole stopped the investigation against Lamorde, without hearing from the Senate, Daily Trust reports.

| Court stops Senate from arresting former EFCC Chairman, Lamorde In a petition dated July 31, 2015, Gabriel Uboh, the chief executive officer of Panic Alert Security Systems, a security firm, accused Lamorde of some under-remittance and non-disclosure of proceeds of corruption recovered from criminal suspects. Lamorde, who was EFCC director of operations between 2003 and 2007, and chairman between June 2007 and May 2008 had been summoned by the Senate over several billions of naira recovered as proceeds of corruption which he failed to remit to the government. He failed on three occasions to honour invitations from the Senate committee on August 26, 2015, November 5, 2015, and November 11, 2015. The Senate on Thursday, February 25, decided on a resolution to issue an arrest warrant on Lamorde. In a swift reaction, the former EFCC boss filed a motion exparte dated March 7th, 2016, asking the court to stop the Senate from issuing a warrant of arrest, pending the hearing and determination of the suit before the court. |
