Boko Haram female members now disguise as men –DHQ



The Defence Headquarters has raised the alarm that female suicide bombers working for the Boko Haram insurgents have adopted the strategy to disguise as men.
The Acting Director, Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Rabe Abubakar, said in a statement on Friday that the female suicide bombers disguised as men to have easy access to the mosques to detonate bombs.
He said that the female bombers who carried out the recent attack at Molai, Umurari village, Borno State, used the strategy to deceive worshippers in the attack.
Abubakar called on the members of the public to be security conscious and be wary of every suspicious person at places of worship, irrespective of his or her sex.
“Female bombers now dress in men attire to have access to mosque unhindered to detonate their bombs. The latest suicide attack in the mosque at Molai, Umurari village in Borno State is instructive in this regard.He said, “In continuation with the sensitisation of our citizens on the devilish strategy of the terrorists, the Nigerian Military authorities have discovered that Boko Haram terrorists are determined to continue letting off bombs and have resorted to hiding their true sex identity.
“Therefore, members of the public are hereby advised to be wary of suspicious persons, irrespective of sex at worship places, markets and public entertainment centres.”
Abubakar said the members of the Boko Haram sect who had been effectively dislodged and decimated by the military had resorted to carrying out isolated attacks on soft targets in their desperation for relevance.
He said, “The Defence Headquarters hereby advises the general public to constantly be on the alert to this latest terrorist tactics and to report promptly any suspicious persons or objects to the nearest security agency.
“Local vigilante and community should device more proactive measures to curtail such ugly happenings to complement security agencies, as security is everybody’s concern.”
